چکیده

Abstract Purpose Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) has been widely applied in dental and maxillofacial imaging. Several CBCT systems have recently developed order to improve the performance. This study aimed evaluate image quality of our prototype (YMU-DENT-P001) compare with a commercial POYE Expert 3DS system (system A). Methods The Micro-CT Contrast Scale, Water HA phantoms were used two terms contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR), signal-to-noise (SNR), uniformity (U), distortion, linearity relationship between intensity calcium hydroxyapatite concentration. We also fabricated proprietary thin-wire phantom full width at half maximum (FWHM) spatial resolution. Both same exposure protocol, data analysis was performed accordance ISO standards using platform. Results SNR nearly five times higher than that A (prototype: 159.85 ± 3.88; A: 35.42 0.61; p < 0.05) CNR three 329.39 5.55; 100.29 2.31; 0.05). resolution (0.2446 mm) greatly exceeded (0.5179 distortion lower 0.03 mm; 0.285 mm). Little difference observed linear bone mineral density (BMD) intensity. Conclusions Within scope this study, YMU-DENT-P001 outperformed resolution, SNR, CNR, distortion.

Comparison of image performance between cone-beam computed tomography for dental use and four-row multidetector helical CT.

The authors evaluated the imaging performance of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) for dental use using 3DX multi-image micro-CT (Morita Co., Kyoto, Japan) and four-row multi-detector helical computed tomography (MDCT) using an Asteion (Toshiba, Tokyo, Japan). A dried right maxillary bone was cut into eight slices 2 mm thick toward the zygomatico-palate and used as a phantom. Images of the p...

Cone Beam CT vs. Fan Beam CT: A Comparison of Image Quality and Dose Delivered Between Two Differing CT Imaging Modalities

A comparison of image quality and dose delivered between two differing computed tomography (CT) imaging modalities-fan beam and cone beam-was performed. A literature review of quantitative analyses for various image quality aspects such as uniformity, signal-to-noise ratio, artifact presence, spatial resolution, modulation transfer function (MTF), and low contrast resolution was generated. With...

A comprehensive study on the relationship between the image quality and imaging dose in low-dose cone beam CT.

While compressed sensing (CS)-based algorithms have been developed for the low-dose cone beam CT (CBCT) reconstruction, a clear understanding of the relationship between the image quality and imaging dose at low-dose levels is needed. In this paper, we qualitatively investigate this subject in a comprehensive manner with extensive experimental and simulation studies. The basic idea is to plot b...

Cone beam CT for dental and maxillofacial imaging: dose matters.

The widespread use of cone-beam CT (CBCT) in dentistry has led to increasing concern regarding justification and optimisation of CBCT exposures. When used as a substitute to multidetector CT (MDCT), CBCT can lead to significant dose reduction; however, low-dose protocols of current-generation MDCTs show that there is an overlap between CBCT and MDCT doses. More importantly, although the 3D info...
